Niagara Falls Day Trip from New York

On the New York to Niagara Falls tour, you board the bus early, at a central pick-up point. Depending on the traffic, the journey takes between 7 and 8 hours. The bus to Niagara Falls offers a limited WiFi connection and there’s a toilet onboard. There is a brief stop halfway, for a short break, where you can stretch your legs.

The Maid of the Mist experience

When I tested this Niagara tour, I arrived at the American side of the falls in the late morning and boarded the famous Maid of the Mist straight away (tickets can be booked directly). This ferry takes you close to the falls. Everyone gets a poncho included. Trust me, this is no novelty gift: the power of the water splashes you from hundreds of metres away. This boat trip is a must when visiting the waterfalls!

Explore viewpoints

After the boat trip, I had the opportunity to look around for myself and decided to visit the observation tower. This viewpoint offers a nice outlook over the waterfalls. Are you a seasoned walker? Then I recommend making the climb to the adjacent Crow’s Nest. There are a lot of stairs to be climbed before reaching this viewpoint, but the end result is more than worth it. The Crow’s Nest is closer to the falls than the observation tower, and the view is beautiful. Don’t forget your poncho; you will also get wet here!

Goat Island

The last beautiful spot that you visit on this Niagara Falls day tour is Goat Island. Located in the middle of the Niagara River, between Bridal Veil Falls and Horseshoe Falls. From here, you have a completely different view of the waterfalls. Later in the afternoon, you’ll board the bus back to Manhattan, where you’ll arrive late in the evening.

About Eric » Eric’s Tip: “I took this New York to Niagara Falls day trip twice! It’s a long day, but you’ll see a lot of the country as a bonus! You will stop for food and beverages along the way, but I advise you to bring some snacks and drinks with you. Before going to the waterfalls, check the weather at Niagara Falls. The weather can be different from New York, so you know what to wear. And don’t make any plans for the evening, as you’ll be returning late and feeling tired.”
